Volunteering with NDI
Volunteering has been a long established tradition within all medical professions. In its first year of operation, NDI doctors donated over 700 days of service delivering free-medical services. NDI offers a variety of short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities for medical and non-medical volunteers in the USA, Canada, and abroad.
Long-term opportunities
Naturopathic Physians: NDI offers 1-year-long volunteer opportunities for USA state licensed, and Canadian board eligible naturopathic physicians in various NDI clinic sites abroad. Our licensed medical volunteers work closely with other health professionals in the project country, provide direct care to patients thru daily consults and emergency care as needed, and work within communities to develop community enhancement projects and provide house calls. Overseas long-term medical volunteers take assignments of 13 months in length. Internships: NDI offers a variety of internships for health professionals including ND's, acupuncturists, herbalists and midwives, student of naturopathic medicine, allied health professionals and other individuals intrested in our mission. Interships last between 1 and 12 months. Our interships are highly competitive. We select candidates up to 1 year before date placement if you are interested in one of our interships, email us for more information.
Short term opportunities
NDI Site Tour: 1-hour tours are available of the clinic on Ometepe. If you are on the island and would like to visit us, please email us to make an appointment. We cannot accomodate last minute preceptors or volunteers that have not been selected for our program.
